FAQ

STRAIGHT ANSWERS, NO WELLNESS TALK

Before you buy, here is exactly what the AuraJex Triple Defense Travel Shower Filter does and does not do — hard water, chlorine, cartridge life, hotel showers, TSA rules, shipping and returns. Straight answers, nothing dressed up.

Does the AuraJex filter actually work with hard water?

Yes — that's exactly what Mode 2 is built for. Hard water means extra calcium and magnesium, plus whatever your local pipes have been shedding into the supply for years. The Mode 2 cartridge softens that harder feel, catches heavy metal impurities, and adds antibacterial protection on top of stripping chlorine. Heading somewhere with older infrastructure or naturally mineral-heavy water — UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Australia, New Zealand — that's your cartridge.

How long does a filter cartridge actually last?

We're not going to hand you a fake countdown number — cartridge life depends on how bad your water really is and how often you shower. What we'll give you instead is a real signal: watch the cartridge color. White means it's working fine. Light brown means start planning your next Refill Pack. Dark brown means stop stalling and swap it — the pipes on the other side of that filter were worse than you think.

Will it fit a hotel or Airbnb shower head?

Almost certainly. AuraJex replaces your existing shower head entirely — it screws onto the same standard shower arm thread used by the vast majority of hotels, Airbnbs, and homes worldwide. No adapters, no tools, no calling the front desk. Unscrew the one that's there, screw ours on.

Is it TSA and carry-on safe?

Yes. It's a solid shower head with solid filter cartridges inside — no liquids, no gels, nothing pressurized. Pack it in your carry-on like any other hard-shell accessory. Just shake the water out of it before you pack it, so it doesn't leak into your bag.

How do I install it?

No plumber required. Unscrew your current shower head counterclockwise. Screw the AuraJex shower head on in its place. Load the filter tube, bead pack, and cap into the housing in sequence. Run the water for 5 seconds before your first shower, and 15 seconds after any cartridge swap, to clear out anything loose.

What's the difference between the Shower Head and the Refill Pack?

The Shower Head is the hardware — the housing that does the actual filtering, and it's ready out of the box to strip out rust, sediment, and larger particles no matter where you are. The Refill Pack is what specializes: three swappable cartridges (Mode 1, 2, 3) tuned to specific water problems — chlorine-heavy cities, hard water, or genuinely bad pipes. You need the Shower Head to filter at all. You need the Refill Pack to filter for your specific destination.

Does it actually get rid of the chlorine smell?

That's Mode 1's whole job. City water systems dump chlorine in to keep the supply sterile, and it's why your skin feels tight and your scalp gets itchy after a hotel shower. Mode 1 neutralizes it at the source, before it hits your skin. Staying somewhere like Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, the US, Canada, or the UAE — that's your cartridge.

Do I need to buy the Refill Pack separately, or does the Shower Head come with cartridges installed?

The Shower Head ships ready to go and filters out rust, sediment, and particles right out of the box. But for the mode-specific work — chlorine, hard water, heavy pipe contamination — you need to add Refill Pack cartridges. First-timers should just grab the Starter Set: Shower Head and Refill Pack together, so you're not showering half-protected on your first trip.

Which mode should I pick for my trip?

Match it to where you're going, not a guess. Mode 1 for clean-but-chlorinated cities: Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, USA, Canada, UAE. Mode 2 for hard water and older infrastructure: UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Australia, New Zealand. Mode 3 for unstable water sources and genuinely rough pipes: Bali, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, India, and older cities generally. Multi-city trip? Pack more than one cartridge and swap as you move.

Do you ship internationally?

Right now, no — we ship within Hong Kong and Macau only, 7 to 10 business days, HKD 30 flat rate, free over HKD 500. International shipping is something we're actively working on, and this page will get updated the moment it's live.

What's your return policy?

We'll take it back if it arrives damaged, defective, or if we sent you the wrong item — contact us within 3 days of delivery to start that. What we won't do is accept returns because you changed your mind; that's standard for a product that goes straight onto your body in the shower. Check our full Refund Policy for the exact conditions.

Is this only for travel, or can I use it at home too?

It's built travel-first — compact, lightweight, install-in-seconds — but nothing stops you running it as your everyday shower head at home. If your home water is chlorinated city supply, hard water, or just old pipes, the same three modes apply. Plenty of people have made it their permanent setup and never looked back.
